5 for Friday .. on a Sunday

If your school district has provided any amount of professional development to the teaching staff in regards to the Common Core State Standards, it is my prediction that you have studied, heard about, or was strongly encouraged to read this book! "Notice & Note" is suppose to be the "go to" book for close reading strategies. I am happy to announce that I will be doing a blog series in relation to this book.  So.. stay tuned! (I just started the book, and it seems pretty good so far!)

My Ipsy Glam Bag came in on Friday. This was one of the best ones I have received yet! Lots of full size products. I also receive a Birchbox, but I think ipsy might be a little better. If you are interested in signed up to receive an ipsy glam bag once a month for 10 bucks, click here!!

I have my students create weekly goals in my class.  This could be anything from making an A on their math test, to finishing an A.R. book.  We follow the "SMART" goal strategy when making goals.  I have noticed lately that when they fill out their weekly reflection, they are just putting "anything" down, and they are not actually working toward their goals.  I decided to use a sharpie and have them write their goals on their desks, so they are seeing them daily! I will keep you posted on how this works. (PS.. Sharpie can be removed easily from desks if you just go over the writing with a dry erase marker. It is almost magical how awesome this is!)

A couple friends & I attended a group painting event that was held here in our small little town.  I had such a great time!!! I loved how everyone put their own spin on the paintings.

I bought a new car!!! It almost looks just like my old car haha. What can I say, I really like white sedans.  I purchased a Buick. (Yea.. cue the old lady jokes!), but for anyone who has driven a Buick, you know why I bought one! They are so comfortable!!

I had an eventful week.  I didn't take a lot of classroom pics. I will have to work on that for next week!! Have a great day.. :)

  1. Hey! I just stumbled across your blog on the 5forFriday (or in our cases...5 for Sunday) linky...I love that I've found another 5th grade teacher! And I am about to be in a book study for Notice and Note so I can't wait to see what you have to say about it!
Also, after some harmless blog stalking, I see you love cats, books, DIYing and Jesus...it's like we are already besties. ;) Have a great week!!
