Well, hello there! This is the part of the blog where I get to talk all about myself.
My full name is Stephanie Kirk. I have been teaching for 7 years, and I can truly say I LOVE IT! I love the creativity, challenges, fun, organization, management, caring, crazy, awesome, learning, growing, and everything else parts of the job.
When I am not teaching, you will most likely find me with my friends. I have been blessed with some of the best! :) I also LOVE to travel, read, paint, and do anything crafty. I love learning about life and God. I love figuring things out in my head. I love helping people!
When I was around 12 years old, I began my webpage design journey. I was learning html and uploading my very own ftp files directly to my very own domain!! Purchased with my saved up lunch money, of course. Later, I started my own blog entitled, www.bekindrewind.net. Yea, I'm not sure where the name came from either. The amazing venture of mine didn't last long however. This little grasshopper learned to drive, got a boyfriend, and well, webpage design and blogging just wasn't important to me any longer.
And here we are, 15 years later. Oh my goodness, I am old. I have created a teaching blog because teaching and writing are two things that I love. I hope to be able to express myself in my writing while providing teaching materials to others!
I let the idea of creating a teaching blog turn over and over in my mind. I didn't know if it was worth my time. I didn't know if it would "go anywhere". Fortunately for me, I was blessed to have an amazing person in my life who believed in me and all of my nerdy abilities. He would tell me all the time how talented I was, and supported and encouraged me to do what makes me happy! He made me realize that it doesn't matter if this blog "goes anywhere" because I am not doing it for that reason. I am doing it because it makes me happy and I enjoy it!!
The person I am talking about was my previous boyfriend. In June of 2014, at the young age of 30, he passed away. His name was Scott Poole, and he was a one of a kind, genuine, talented, handsome, encouraging person! The reason I am bringing this up is because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be doing this right now!! He encouraged me to work on the blog, and he even came to me one day with a huge list of possible blog names that I could use. "Summer Break & Lessons to Make", "Chalk & Chat", "Vacation Violation", "Teacher's Rant".. just to name a few. I am so glad I kept those! A friend of mine thought of the name "A Touch of Class", and I loved it!! Scott, of course, loved it as well. I began creating my blog, and kept him updated daily! While he certainly acted excited, I don't know that he was truly as excited as I was, but I think he was just happy to see me happy.
I stopped working on the blog when he passed away. When I was finally able to get back on my feet, this blog was the first thing I put my time and energy into. Thanks to "Designs by Tenille" who helped me speed up the design process, and a few close friends who knew how much I wanted to do it, here is my blog! What a bittersweet feeling I am feeling as I type this!
So.. this section of the blog is dedicated to him :) I am forever grateful for his encouragement.
