Common & Proper Nouns

September 17, 2014 by Mrs. Nash Filed Under: All Subjects, Grammar Leave a Comment

 Noun Sorting

Well, common & proper noun practice was a major success!  Today during centers, my 5th graders were given 24 noun cards.  12 of them were common nouns, and 12 of them were proper nouns.  Before centers, I provided some modeling and instruction using some posters and the Smartboard.  The students did so well!  When they were finished sorting, I let them create their own common and proper nouns.  They really enjoyed that also.  I liked reading what kind of nouns they came up with.  It helped to spark some conversation as well.  All in all, great day in Miss Kirk’s 5th grade class!

I would love to share my resources with you!!
