I have tried file folders. They’re ok, but it gets to the point where I need a personal secretary to get everything filed because those manilla folders are so aggravating! lol
- You need a large, 3 ring binder. I suggest 2 – 3 inches in size.
- Get you some plastic pocket folders. (See photo below) Each student will have their own folder. This is where you will keep their individual records.
- Download a copy of the assessment snapshot by clicking here. I have created one for FREE and uploaded it to my TPT store. It is completely editable to meet your needs. Beth also has one here. I modeled mine after hers.

What is a snapshot?
A snapshot is a document where you record important data for each child. Each student has their own snapshot. You keep it in the front of your pocket. You could keep it IN your pocket, but I always just keep it in front because it is quicker to write on. Any important data that needs to be recorded is written here because it gives me a quick glance of their progress. I don’t have to go digging through folders to get an idea of how they are doing.
