How to Create a Beautiful Teacher Toolbox that Will Help Organize Your Classroom

I know you all have seen those beautiful teacher toolboxes on Pinterest or on your coworker’s desks. Maybe you’re on the fence about whether you want one of your own in your classroom. If you’re contemplating whether they are worth the hassle, I’m here to tell you that they are. They aren’t a hassle, they’re simple and I’m here to make it easy for you. I am able to organize all of my teacher needs in this toolbox. I never misplace a paperclip or binder ring and I’m never going back!

Get your teacher toolbox ready with these supplies

Creating this toolbox is as easy as 1-2-3 … well sortof. Let me show you!

Here’s what you’ll need to start putting your teacher toolbox together.

You can create your own labels to place on the drawers or you can use my Ready to Print Teacher Toolbox Templates. You can choose from the Rainbow Sunshine or the Boho Rainbow style of labels.

Supplies needed to create your own teacher toolbox for your classroom. Supplies needed include scissors, double sided tape and drawer labels.

Assemble Your Teacher Toolbox

There are many ways to label and assemble the drawers on your Teacher Toolbox. I have found that printing the labels on cardstock and using double sided tape works very well! I just use the double sided tape to stick the labels to the outside of each drawer. My labels have held up nicely for the past two years.

Some teachers take the time to stick the labels to the inside of the drawer for extra protection. This of course can only be done if you purchase the toolbox with clear drawers.

If you use my Rainbow Teacher Toolbox Labels, be sure to put them on your drawers so the final product looks like a rainbow.

Enjoy the rewarding feeling of being organized

Now that you have your Teacher Toolbox assembled and ready to go, enjoy that amazing feeling of being organized. No more randomly placed pens or paperclips. No more pushpins finding their way under your desk and into the hands of your students.

If you aren’t sure which items to put in your teacher toolbox, take a look at what I place in mine. I like to place the following objects in my drawers:

  • Pens
  • Poster Putty
  • Hole Puncher
  • Washi Tape – 2 drawers
  • Push Pins
  • Paper Clips – 2 drawers
  • Binder Clips – 2 drawers
  • Binder Rings
  • Command Strips
  • Safety Pins
  • Batteries
  • Velcro
  • Magnets
  • Staples – 2 drawers
  • Gluesticks – the ones I use of course
  • Tape
  • Rubber Bands
  • White Out
  • Bandaids
  • Glue Gun
  • Post-It Notes
  • Poster Markers

The cool thing about these toolboxes, is that you can personalize them to your needs. If you don’t use Washi tape, you can label that drawer to hold something else. If you use three drawers worth of paper clips or rubber bands, you can label it as such!

    1. Hi Yurena! Almost everything includes a blank template, so you can insert your own text box, use your own fonts, and use your own language!! I hope this helps. 🙂
